Salsa group and five time world salsa championship winners, Swing Latino, and their director “El Mulato” are planned to shake things up in Medellin on November 18 and 19.
Hailing from the ‘salsa capital of Colombia,’ Cali, the salsa school is unquestionably the best in the world, with the recent world salsa championship win by the school’s youngest professional dancer, Milady Teran, and partner Jhon Andres Lucumi at the 2011 World Salsa Championship.
Under the direction of dancer and choreographer Luis E. Hernandez, known by his dancers as El Mulato, the Swing Latino dancers are a most impressive sight as they fly across the stage to body shaking rhythms.
For their Medellin shows the group has an “Anthology of Salsa” performance planned, which is described as being “an imaginary journey through time, which tells and shows the evolution and the influence of the musical rhythms that are wrapped up in the genre of salsa.”
Mambo, pachanga, the cha-cha, and many more will be heard at both performances, held at the Folkloric Ballet of Antioquia’s stage in El Poblado. The show starts at 9PM and tickets are available for $47 dollars, with a 15% discount available for affiliates of Comfama, Tourism Cluster, dance academies, seniors, and students.
