Colombians are most likely to die of a heart attack, a study on the causes of death of Colombians revealed on Thursday showed.
As it stands, 13.4% of all deaths that occurred in 2011 were caused by heart attacks and other affects brought on by heart disease.
Violent deaths like murder or manslaughter make up a total of 8.5% of all fatalities in 2011.
Cancer-related illnesses measured in with perhaps a surprisingly low level of fatalities, making an appearance with just 3.9% of deaths.
The report illustrated that men in Colombia are more likely to die from external causes than women. This can include anything from suicide to traffic accidents. Women are also much less likely to be the victims of homicide, with just 9.3% of all murder cases having a female victim.
