Ivan Duque will be sworn in as President on Tuesday while protests have been organized across the country.
Duque will be the youngest president Colombia in the past 70 years. A protege of ex-president Alvaro Uribe, the 42-year-old brings with him very little experience.

The ceremony
12.30PM
Senators and representatives are due to arrive at the Plaza De Bolivar in Bogota to hold a special legislative session.
1PM
Duque will arrive at the San Carlos palace with his wife and children for a light meal. The Senate and the House will also be meeting to discuss his inauguration.
Opposition protests are also expected to take place at the Hoja Square. Protests are also expected at this time in Colombia’s third largest city, Cali, and Bucaramanga.
2PM
Duque’s associates will head to Bolivar Square – where the inauguration will take place – to take their seats. Some 3,000 people are expected to be at the event.
2.45PM
The incoming president will then go with Vice President Marta Lucia Ramirez to 10th street to meet congressmen. They will then head to the ceremony which is due to start at 3pm.
3PM
Following the national anthem, Duque will take oath and the president of the Senate will give a speech about the issues facing Colombia.
3.15-3.30pm
Duque will then give his inaugural speech after which he can enter the presidential palace where he and his family are expected to live for the coming four years.
