Drinkable water returns to 70% of the city of Manizales in Colombia’s Coffee Region, after being cut off for 12 days, local media reported Sunday.
The water supply was cut after a landslide destroyed the city’s main water supply pipeline on October 19.
Housing Minister Beatriz Uribe said repairs are being carried out on the main water pipeline and service may be intermittent as the local authorities extract the air from the ducts.
Uribe recognized that area in which the damage to the pipeline occurred is still unstable and hoped that it would not rain in order to avoid setbacks.
The housing minister also said that by November 10, the Niza plant will go into service to provide short term water supply service to Manizales.
