There is nothing more Colombian than arepas and appearances of the Holy Virgin. The appearance of the mother of the lord Jesus Christ on a burnt arepa was to be expected sooner or later.
Stella Yance, a humble woman from the south east of Bogotá, was the first to witness the supernatural, very colombian yet rare phenomenon.
“I was making food when unfortunately I burnt the arepas. When I took them off the stove I was surprised of what one of the arepas was showing. I thought it was a miracle,” the woman told Caracol Radio.
Yance built an altar for the arepa after numerous neighbors curiously came to witness the miracle. Many more believers are expected to visit the woman’s house, hoping for a miracle.
