Authorities of Villavicencio say they have received several phone calls
of people demanding 5 billion pesos (US$2 million). If the authorities don’t pay, the extortionists threaten to continue attack the city’s water supply.
The city’s main water supply has been cut of for at least a week after unknown men blew up the pipeline that provides 90 percent of the city with its water.
According to local authorities, the FARC’s 53rd front is behind an attack. They called an emergency meeting of the local Security Council to decide how to deal with the threat.
A 100 million peso (US$40,000) reward is offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the earlier attacks on the city’s water supply
