Venezuela arrests 31 Colombian suspected paramilitaries

Venezuelan security forces have detained 31 Colombians suspected of being paramilitaries.

Vice President Ramon Carrizalez says 27 men and four women were apprehended in a house in a poor Caracas neighborhood.

“It is not certain these persons are paramilitaries, but everything seems to indicate they are,” Carrizalez said.

He
says the suspected members of Colombia’s right-wing paramilitary
militias were detained in relation to an ongoing investigation that revealed high paramilitary activity between Colombia and Venezuela.

Carrizalez did not provide further details Tuesday. (CR / AP)
