Extradition to U.S. for Colombian thief

The Colombian authorities have captured Roberto Garcia Diazgranados, who is wanted by the United States for the theft of a million dollars worth electrical equipment, reported Colombian media.

Garcia Diazgranados is wanted by the Florida District Court for heading an operation in which thousands of pieces of office machinery were stolen from various U.S. cities and sold in electrical markets in Bogota, Cali and Medellin.

The U.S. court called Garcia Diazgranados to trial in March 2003, and his failure to appear resulted in the issue of a warrant for his arrest.

Roberto García Diazgranados was intercepted by police in Popayan, capital of the western department of Cauca. He will be sent to the United States to stand trial for the thefts.
