U.S. backs Colombia on fighting FARC

“We consider the FARC, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, to be a terrorist organization and support the government of Colombia in its efforts to respond to that threat and challenge,” State Department deputy spokesman Tom Casey said.Casey made the comments after  Colombia bombed and dispatched troops into Ecuador in a weekend raid that killed a Colombian rebel leader in his jungle camp. Nonetheless, Colombian officials have apologized for any violation of Ecuador’s sovereignty, according to the American government. Both Ecuador en Venezuela broke off all diplomatic contact with Colombia directly after the military operation.
