Colombian President Alvaro Uribe ordered members of the armed forces to work day and night to arrest those criminals “who are still missing” before his term ends on August 7.
“Let’s not sleep these seven nights, dear soldiers and policemen, to see how we can advance in the arrest of those still missing,” Uribe said Saturday in Monteria, the capital of the department of Coroba where paramilitary drug gangs are terrorizing the population and murder rates soar.
According to the President, the authorities made great progress in the war against drug gangs and guerrillas, but says it is necessary to quickly arrest those still involved in illegal armed groups.
“We have to catch them all and with all determination,” Uribe stressed.
The outgoing President will hand over his presidential powers to Juan Manuel Santos next Saturday.
