The congressman who on Monday assumed position in the commission that investigates former President Alvaro Uribe over his alleged role in illegally wiretapping political opponents resigned Wednesday saying he has been threatened.
Representative to the House Camilo Andres Abril handed in his resignation to the commission complained that through friends he received intimidating messages.
According to the representative, he started receiving threats telling him not “to mess with Uribe” two months ago when he took part in a different investigative commission on crimes allegedly committed by the former president when he was governor of the Antioquia department.
Abril, who wouldn’t get into details of the intimidation, said he did not know where the threats were coming from, but rejected the idea Uribe himself was behind them.
The congressman is the third to resign from the three-man commission.
