Tour de France’s Colombian favorite Rigoberto Uran lost significant ground after finishing in the last pack in the Tour’s toughest stage, the Alpe d’Huez.
Just two days after losing the white jersey, Uran placed 138th in the 19th stage, coming 25 minutes and 27 seconds behind first place. French youth rider Pierre Rolland dominated the stage, coming in first overall and taking the white jersey.
The relatively short but treacherous 68-mile mountain stage is infamous for making or breaking frontrunners in the Tour.
Uran now sits at 23rd place in the overall race and 37 minutes behind tour leader Andy Schleck with only two stages remaining.
With today’s performance, Uran has made returning to the top 10 a herculean effort.
