The Secretary of State for Latin America said Tuesday that the U.S. is standing by to assist the peace process in Colombia.
The Secretary of State Roberta Jacobson talking to Spanish magazine Cadena Ser, said the international community is reading and waiting for requests for help from Colombia, reported local media.
“We support the efforts of President Santos in Colombia and the peace process. We have great confidence in President Santos and we are ready, with other countries in the international community, to help the Colombian government to implement it,” said Jacobson.
According to Caracol Radio she also said the Obama administration hopes that the peace agreement comes to fruition and reaches the point of a FARC disarmament process.
In the interview given to Cadena Ser Jacobson also commented on the relations of the United States with Venezuela, Cuba and Mexico.
