The United Nations will give Colombia $6 million to aid victims of floods caused by this year’s extended rainy season, which has killed at least 246 people.
According to an Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) spokeswoman, the money will be used to “respond to the urgent needs in the first three months.”
The OCHA will also call for additional fundraising in the coming few weeks, the spokesperson told press.
The number of victims of this year’s rainy season is approaching the 2 million, and the extreme weather has caused more than $5 billion in damages.
