Miguel Gaviria Fontalvo, better known as “Jader,” was arrested in the northwestern city of Medellin and allegedly commands FARC’s front 35 and front 37. Police also seized five computers and 10 million Colombian pesos (about about 5,621 U.S. dollars) during the raid. “Jader” had been convicted in absentia for crimes like kidnapping and extortion and sentenced to some 85 years in prison. The other FARC leader arrested on the day in Arauqita, eastern Colombia, was Jhon Jairo Quintero Hernandez, alias “Mono Quintero”, who commanded urban militias of the FARC X front and served as the “right-hand man” to Germán ‘Grannobles’ Briceño Suárez, a FARC regional chief and brother of FARC top leader ‘Mono Jojoy’.
