Colombia’s Senate President Juan Manuel Corzo has said that Twitter users are “rude” and use the social network as a “tool to offend,” reported newspaper El Espectador Monday.
At a press conference in Bogota, Corzo criticized the Twitter network and followers, saying that although the international social networking site “is necessary, it is getting out of control.”
Corzo has been recently condemned by Twitter followers after he declared that his salary of $11,500 a month is “physically and economically” impossible to maintain two cars with gasoline costs, in defense of receiving a gas subsidy from the Colombian government.
The senate president declared that “Twitter users are rude, and they have turned the social network into a tool to offend.”
In response to the criticism about Colombians footing the bill to put gasoline in the tanks of legislators, Corzo had said “this debate is not worth it. We are the leaders of public power in Colombia, let us have some dignity on the subject.”
