Truckers and government reach agreement

According to the ACC, 140,000 truckers had parked their car on the side of the road, protesting freight agreements, fuel costs, toll prices and access to credits.After a four hour meeting with the ACC, Uribe offered a 240 billion pesos (US$128 million) government investment in the sector to modernize the countries cargo carriers. He also promised the government would buy up “old and obsolete vehicles”.The truckers are expected to be driving normally again Tuesday. The strike led to no extraordinary traffic jams or shortages.
