Three ex DAS directors called in for questioning

Former intelligence service directors Maria del Pilar Hurtado, Jorge Noguera,
and Andres Peñate will be called in for questioning in the DAS
wiretapping scandal, Colombia’s Prosecutor General announced Tuesday.

The decision comes after the Supreme Court
approved the prosecutor general’s request to investigate DAS’s former
directors.

According to prosecutors, former DAS directors are
responsible for allowing the wiretapping of phone calls made by
government officials, journalists, and in institutions.

On April 22 the Inspector General announced he will start to investigate 16 of DAS’s current and former employees.

Colombia’s prosecutor general Mario Iguaran announced Tuesday that he will personally oversee the investigation.
