Bogota

The Killers, New Order to headline Bogota’s Estereo Picnic festival

Colombia festivities

The Killers, New Order, Crystal Castles and Foals will headline a star-studded international line-up which will descend on Bogota April 5 and 7 for the biggest Estereo Picnic yet.

The Killers are ready to bring the noise to Bogota with fresh material off their new album, Battle Born Casino, although many punters will be hanging out to hear old classics off albums Hot Fuzz and Sam’s Town. Joining them will be one of the most influential synth-pop bands of the 1980s, New Order, and with hits like Blue Monday, Confusion and Bizarre Love Triangle, they clearly need no introduction.

Crystal Castles, with their uniquely abrasive, hook-laden electro sound, will also be a crowd pleaser. Meanwhile, post-punk revivalists Foals will be performing fresh off the release of new album Holy Fire.

Joining the aforementioned acts is American electro-house DJ, Steve Aoki, and the Irish indie rock band Two Door Cinema Club.

Colombian bands will also be represented at the festival, ranging from the “salsa caliente” of the Meridian Brothers to rock and roll from Diamante Electrico. Also featuring will be Medellin Hip-Hop group Alcolyricoz, and “musical chameleon” Esteman, along with many more.

As with many modern music festivals, a large part of the fun stems from the venue and atmosphere conjured up, and Estereo Picnic promises to provide a wide selection of eateries, bars and entertainments to accompany the musical performances.

To this end, Estereo Picnic will be changing site this year, moving to the Parque Deportivo 222, which will have a capacity of 20,000, compared with the maximum 6,000 of previous years. Production organizer, Julian Martinez, has said the new venue is “definitively better” in terms of comfort and aesthetics.

In what seems to be the only set back for the event, Indie electro-act, Passion Pit, had been been locked in for the festival before regrettably pulling out recently due to “logistical problems.”

Tickets range from $42 to $105, depending on how many days you wish to attend, and can be purchased from Tu Boleta (see link below).
