Medellin will feel the heat when the International Tango Festival returns to the city in June.
In it’s fifth year, the festival will bring together musicians, singers, dancers and tango enthusiasts from around the world to celebrate the passionate music style. As well as holding competitions, the festival will host tango performances in bars, streets, parks and plazas.
Since tango king Carlos Gardel died in a plane crash in the city in 1935, Medellin has become a proud follower of the Argentine dance style.
Each year the festival pays homage to Gardel, opening on June 24th, the same day as his death.
