Colombian health authorities announced Tuesday that 136 people in the country have died of AH1N1 or swine flu so far.
The country’s Social Welfare Ministry said in its weekly report on the progress of the virus and measures against it that 2,933 people were confirmed to have contracted the virus and that it had spread to all but one departments.
The Colombian government plans a campaign to further inform Colombians on the virus and how to decrease the possibilities to contract it.
Colombia’s first confirmed case of swine flu was registered on May 3. Authorities are expecting the number of casualties to rise because of the rainy season that lasts until mid-December.
