The president of Colombia’s Supreme Court asked for a meeting with the government to discuss the “moderation” the Colombian president asked of judicial officials, local media reported Friday.
Mauricio Fajardo, president of Colombia’s Supreme Court stated that he wants a meeting with the government to in order to overcome the differences raised by rulings regarding the cases of the FARC taking of Las Delicias military base and the computers of FARC commander “Raul Reyes,” which caused “deep unease,” according to the president.
According to El Espectador, Fajardo insisted that in no way did the ruling regarding the 1996 FARC taking of Las Delicias military base jeopardize the security of the country. He said “The decision of the State Council is not putting security or truth at risk.”
Magistrate Fajardo also said “It is equally important to also maintain the independence and autonomy of the judicial branch,” reported Caracol Radio Friday.
He continued “The moderation which is mentioned and cited by the president, for us is absolutely desirable. We see it as an innate condition to judicial decisions.”
