The demobilized paramilitary who had accused Medellin mayor Alonso Salazar of abuse of power towards demobilized members of the AUC has been murdered, RCN radio reported Tuesday.
According to the radio station, former paramilitary John Faber Bravo Ibarra was killed on September 11 already, but authorities did not reveal his identity until Tuesday.
Bravo Ibarra had been in Colombian news after he accused the city mayor Alonso Salazar Jaramillo of abuse of authority and said the mayor had traited the thousands of paramilitary fighters who joined the massive demobilization in 2006.
The demobilized paramilitary was linked to several lawsuits and had received threats a number of times.
According to authorities, Bravo Ibarra was second-in-command of the La 38 gang, which has been engaged in a brutal confrontation with rival gang La Galera.
Bravo Ibarra was one of the demobilized paramilitaries that had not complied with agreements that formed part of his reinstatement in society. According to the office of Peace and Reconciliation, “this person has been identified by the community as committing criminal activities in the neighborhood.”
