Spanish engineering company Acciona is planning new investments in Colombia.
The multinational, which has operations in 30 countries, was involved in the construction of Medellin’s Metro and dams in Guavio and Santa Rita.
It is now in the process of making contracts to build access roads to two hydroelectric plants; Hidrosogamoso in the eastern department of Santander, and Hidroituango on the Cauca river.
Pedro Martinez, head of the company’s infrastructure department in Spain, told El Espectador that it was time to do more business in Colombia.
“Being at home favored the interests of the company … But today, with Spain’s problems, we had to leave to seek new markets and we are back in Colombia and other countries in the region,” said Martinez.
The South American nation is one of 11 countries identified as “strategic” by Acciona, according to Martinez.
