Colombian Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera met with South Korean senior defense officials to boost security cooperation between the two nations, reports Radio Santa Fe.
Rivera held talks with the South Korean Director General of International Policy, Baek Sang Cho, and South Korean ambassador to Colombia Hong Seong Ha regarding bilateral cooperation in security and defense.
The Korean delegation, which is made up of other high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense, said that this was the first meeting of a Korea-Colombia bilateral working group that would work to strengthen military ties.
Key areas of focus include technology, logistics and education.
Joint projects were laid out for the future to establish South Korea as a strategic partner of Colombia in the Asia-Pacific region.
Rivera visited South Korea in September to take part in the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Korean war. Colombia was the only South American nation to take part in the war, and the two countries have shared a friendship ever since.
