A Colombian judge Monday ordered the release of ten soldiers who allegedly stole $275 thousand and killed a surviving guerrilla after raiding a FARC camp.
The soldiers took part in a February 2010 raid on a camp of the FARC’s 2nd front in the central Tolima department.
After finding the $275 thousand, the soldiers alledgedly kept the money without telling their superior and killed a surviving guerrilla to avoid being caught.
Because the Prosecutor General’s Office failed to charge the soldiers within 180 days, the members of the military were released.
The prosecutor announced he will appeal the judge’s decision.
