When Sofia Vergara was asked how she had her 18 year-old son so young on American talkshow The View, she responded that she was raped.
“You’re a single mom of an 18 year-old, 18 girl!” said the interviewer. “You had him when you were 12.”
“Thirteen,” responded Vergara. “I was raped.” This was followed by awkward laughs on the part of the interviewers and audience and launched Whoopi Goldberg into a coughing fit.
Hollywood bloggers were baffled and many people criticized Vergara, saying rape is no joking matter. Still others tried to defend her, claiming that the joke got lost in translation.
Vergara appeared on the American talk show on November 18 to talk about her new television show.
