Once Caldas join Deportes Tolima at the top of the Colombian Liga Postobon following a 3-1 win over America de Cali on Saturday.
After Santa Fe lost 2-0 at Boyaca Chico on Friday, Once Caldas had a perfect opportunity to climb to second or even first place with just one more round to go.
Fernando Uribe was the hero for Once Caldas, scoring in the 4th, 82nd and 88th minute to hand the Manizales side the victory. Only Edison Toloza scored for the visitors, and did so in the 47th minute.
Deportes Tolima needed a win at Millonarios to defend their top spot, but were instead held to a 2-2 draw. As such Tolima and Once Caldas now share the first position.
Millonarios, who gave away a 2-1 lead as Tolima’s Jorge Perlaza equalised in the 88th minute, no longer seem to be candidates for a spot in the next round.
