A convincing 3-0 win over Independiente Medellin allowed Bogota club Millonarios to defend their top eight spot in the Colombian Copa Mustang II on Saturday.
The opening goal at the match between Millonarios and Medellin came from Carmelo Valencia in the 43rd minute, and the forward went on to add another in the 58th.
The hosts would allow the fans to celebrate once more, as Pedro Franco made it 3-0 with nine minutes to go at El Campin stadium.
Deportes Tolima were held to a 1-1 draw by Pereira, a result that helps neither side at this point.
Dario Bustos put the hosts from Ibague in the lead after 26 minutes, but Julian Barahona balanced things eight minutes later. Scorer Bustos was sent off with four minutes to go.
The match between defending champions Once Caldas and Boyaca Chico ended in a 2-2 draw. Henry Rojas’ opening goal for Caldas in the 25th minute was canceled out by Miguel Caneo two minutes later. Charles Monsalvo then found the target for 1-2 on the hour, but Wilson Mena leveled seven minutes later, 2-2.
