Smugglers block border with Venezuela

Colombian smugglers are blocking the border with Venezuela at the
Francisco bridge connecting Cúcuta with its Venezuelan neighbor Ureña,
protesting anti-smuggling measures imposed by Venezuelan authorities.

Some 2,000 smugglers burnt tires, making the Francisco brdige impossible to pass.

Monday, a similar protest blocked the bridge between Cucúta and San Antonio, another popular smuggling passage.

Colombia and Venezuela share a 2,219 kilometer long border, an area popular for smuggling cheap Venezuelan gasoline into Colombia and Colombian cocaine into Venezuela.
