Shakira will perform at the U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan in October, tournament organizers announced Wednesday.
The Colombian pop icon will give the half-time performance at the final game of the tournament on October 13th.
Shakira is fast becoming a regular on the soccer scene: In 2010 she staged the official song for the men’s World Cup in South Africa, and Wednesday she beat out supermodels and TV broadcasters to be named “most beautiful girlfriend” among the men competing in 2012’s Eurocup, for her relationship with Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique.
She will be joined at the U-17 Women’s World Cup by international superstars Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna. Lopez will sing at the tournament’s opening ceremony September 22 and Rihanna will sing October 5th during the quarter finals match.
The tournament will take place in Azerbaijan cities of Baku and Lankaran. Tickets can be purchased starting July 10.
