Colombian pop superstar Shakira and Gerard Pique have confirmed they are expecting their second child, local media reported on Tuesday.

The Barranquilla-born singer and FC Barcelona star Pique confirmed the pregnancy to Spanish newspaper El Periodico on Tuesday, adding that her due date will be in January.

The couple currently has one child, a 2-year old boy named Milan. The sex of the pairs’ second child is currently unknown.

Rumors of the pregnancy emerged after the popstar’s highly anticipated World Cup closing ceremony, and were exacerbated when fellow Colombian singer Carlos Vives confirmed her pregnancy shortly after according to Colombia’s Semana news magazine.

The singer had previously spoken of her desire for a large family. “I would like to have eight or nine children with Gerard, and have my own football team. If it weren’t for my musical projects, I would already be pregnant,” Shakira told El Periodico in March.

Shakira’s pregnancy news follows on the heels of her accomplishment as the first public figure to reach 100 million likes in the history of Facebook.
