Colombian pop diva Shakira and Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique have the most nauseating Spanish celebrity relationship, said a poll conducted by Spanish news agency EFE.
Shakira and Pique dominated the competition to be the most cloying with 73.4% of respondents selecting them as Spain’s schmaltziest couple.
The constant stream of pictures of the couple posted on their Twitter and Facebook pages as well as recurring media coverage of public displays of affection gave the two an astounding 60-point lead over their closest competitors.
Spanish goalie Iker Casillas and sports presenter Sara Carbonero claimed second place with 11%. Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem took third with 4.9%.
