The number of Colombians killed in organized crime-related attacks in Guatemala over the past week has been raised to at least six, according to information from the police to the Guatemalan press.
“Primary investigations of the Public Ministry, the Guatemalan Prosecutor’s Office, about the death of six Colombians last weekend established that they are linked to drugs and human trafficking,” stated newspaper Prensa Libre Tuesday.
According to the paper, two men, aged 37 and 25, were killed and a 26-year-old woman injured when armed men entered a hotel in Chulamar, Puerto San Jose, Escuintla, near Guatemala’s Pacific Coast and shot the Colombian victims, Tuesday. At least four Colombians were fatally gunned down in separate attacks in Guatemala last weekend.
Tuesday, two Colombians were captured in La Aurora International Airport attempting to travel to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on false passports. Migration details indicate that more than 16,000 Colombians enter Guatemala each year.
