Colombia News - Sebastian Weapons

“Sebastian” was prepared for any kind of war, said the police Thursday after finding a second high-technological weapon arsenal of the arrested leader of Medellin-based crime syndicate Oficina de Envigado.

The arms cache of Erick Vargas, alias Sebastian, included 27 rifles, 9 submachine guns, 1 M60 machine gun, 13 guns, 1 shotgun, 55 hand grenades and approximately 30,000 cartridges of different calibers. The police also found 55 hand grenades, almost 600 detonators and 12 40mm grenades.

“Sebastian was prepared for war. He was, I guess, planning some kind of confrontation because with all the war material, especially the M60, he was prepared to fight off any operation,” said police commander Yesid Vasquez.

The drug lord also kept $120,000 in cash in his second hideout.

This is Sebastian’s second secret weapon arsenal the police has found. In his hideout outside of Medellin, where the top commander of the Oficina de Envigado was captured last week, Sebastian stored a grenade launcher, hand grenades, seven high-end rifles, nine pistols, 11,000 cartridges and night vision devices.

The drug lord’s weapons are more technologically advanced than Colombia‘s Armed Forces, concluded cadio station Caracol after finding Sebastian’s first weapons cache.

Sebastian is waiting to be extradited to the United States to face drug trafficking charges.
