Santos’ urban approval rating at 82%

Santos approval

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos enjoys the approval of 82% of urban Colombians, but faces pessimism about his security and labor policies, a poll released by CM& showed Tuesday.

According to the poll, 11% of the polled Colombians disapprove of Santos’ policies.

The president’s urban approval rating went down one percentage point compared to last month.

Santos received most support for his foreign policy. 85% of the interviewees approved of this policy and 78% approved of Santos’ strengthening of ties with neighbor Venezuela

The polled Colombians were most critical about Santos’ security and unemployment policies. 41% of the interviewees believe security has improved against 47% that responded the security situation in the country has worsened. 46% approved of the government’s efforts to fight unemployment, while 48% disapproved.

However, 74% of respondents to the poll said Santos is keeping his word regarding fighting poverty and 68% approved of the president’s general economic policies.

Santos’ “crusade” against corruption is received well by 70% of the interviewees and disapproved by 25%.

74% of the polled Colombians feel the country is doing well, against 17% who are pessimistic.
