President Juan Manuel Santos assured ex-President Alvaro Uribe that Colombia’s National Development Plan is and will always be a top priority, reported LA FM Radio Thursday.
In an address regarding the National Development Plan, President Santos explicitly told Uribe that “the country and President Uribe can be then very, very assured, because we are taking good care of their three eggs.”
One of three “eggs,” or pillars, of the National Development Plan is national security.
President Santos clarified to Uribe that “security is and will remain a priority for the government, and that’s one of the three axes of the National Development Plan.”
The statement was given in response to Uribe’s increasing concern for violence and insecurity in several parts of Colombia.
“These people are forgetting that we have killed people like ‘Jojoy,’ they forget that we removed the symbol of terrorism (…) ‘Cuchillo,’ the murderer of murderers, and the list continues and will continue,” said Santos.
The other two pillars of the National Development plan are economic development and environmental management.
According to an article published by Caracol Radio, Santos said “with regards to investor confidence, not only have we received an investment grade by two of the three major rating agencies in the world, but that foreign investment in our country has been growing this year above 56 percent.”
