Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos announced Tuesday the creation of a permanent committee to study anti-crisis measures in the face of the threat of a global economic recession.
The committee will meet every two months to assess the international situation and the effects of an economic slow-down.
President Santos made the announcement at the end of a “very productive” four-hour meeting with representatives from industry, the financial sector, professional and trade organizations, labor unions, and small and medium-sized businesses.
“We are all in agreement that it is better to prevent than to regret. we are going to maintain constant communication if we see a warning sign in any part, we will call a meeting as quickly as possible,” said the head of state.
However no concrete measures were taken, such as restarting the Anti-cyclic Plan which worked in 2008, to confront the global financial crisis.
