Colombia news - Augustin Julio

Santa Fe are the new sole leaders in Group A of the Colombian Liga Postobon group phase, while Once Caldas remain on top of Group B.

Bogota outfit Santa Fe hosted Atletico Huila on Saturday, and the match had been under way for just five minutes when Rafael Castillo put the visiting side in the lead.

But Efrain Viafara leveled nine minutes later and Cristian Nazarith netted the winning goal for Santa Fe in the final minute of regular time. Huila’s Ormedis Madera had been sent off three minutes earlier.

Deportes Tolima were held to a 1-1 draw by La Equidad, and are now two points behind Santa Fe. Wilder Medina drew first blood for Tolima in the fifth minute, but Carlos Renteria netted the equaliser in the 39th.

On Sunday, Once Caldas successfully defended their lead in an away match at Atletico Nacional, beating the Medellin side 3-1.

Fernando Uribe scored the opener for Once Caldas in the 11th minute, but had his goal canceled out in the 22nd when Humberto Mendoza converted a spot kick for 1-1.

In the second half, goals from Jefferson Cuero and Dayro Moreno earned the visiting side a 3-1 win. Nacional’s David Cordoba was sent off in the 88th minute.

Deportes Quindio remained at one point from the top following a 2-1 win over Cucuta Deportivo. Leider Preciado scored both home goals, in the 51st and 56th minutes. Diego Peralta did something back in the 69th, but Quindio held on to their lead to add three more points to their account.
