Colombia will invest $140,000 (COP260 million) to develop a park in the Coffee Region designed to exhibit the importance of water resources. The venue, proposed by local mayor Jorge Ricardo Parra, will be open by the middle of the year, weather permitting, announced the local Secretary for Public Works and Agriculture, Martha Elena Alarcon Muñoz.
The new tourist atttaction will “give locals and residents an illustration of the cycle of water resources and their importance to the community,” she added.
Alarcon Munoz also explained that $235,000 has already been invested by the local administration to begin developing the park.
The local authorities are currently working on the legal process involved in relocating seven families that are living on the farm, which will become the attraction’s parking lot. Secretary Muñoz further added that one family has already been moved to their new home, whilst the others are expected to relocate in the coming days.
