The remains of “Mono Jojoy,” the FARC’s military chief who was killed in an army operation Wednesday, were taken to the Colombian capital Bogota for forensic research.
The remains of Mono Jojoy and at least 20 other guerrillas who died in the attack were moved from the jungle camp in the Meta department where they were killed to a local airport, from where they were flown to Bogota.
Forensic scientists will seek to confirm government claims that among those killed in “Operation Sodom” are Victor Julio Suarez Rojas, a.k.a. Mono Jojoy, and Henry Castellano Garzon, a.k.a. Romaña, a senior guerrilla commander active in eastern Colombia.
According to W Radio, the forensic authorities are expected to confirm the government’s claims on Friday.
