The remains of four civilians thought to have been kidnapped by the FARC are handed over to the army in southern Colombia after being found in excavations, Caracol Radio reported Tuesday.
The bodies were handed in to the commander of the army’s 3rd Brigade at the headquarters of Battalion Codazzi, Palmira, near the High Commission of Energy and Mines in the Valle del Cauca department.
According to earlier investigations, the four people were held by the FARC guerrilla group.
Non-profit organization Pais Libre, which assists kidnap victims and their families, recently said that civilian hostages held by rebel groups receive little attention compared to political hostages, claiming that there are more than 200 such hostages who have been “forgotten.”
