Members of Colombia’s national soccer team were robbed at their hotel in Madrid, El Espectador reported Wednesday.
“They came into several rooms in the hotel (Husa Princesa) while we were training to rob us and took some items of value. A shame,” tweeted forward Radamel Falcao Garcia.
The stolen goods included laptops, i-pods and cash. The victims spent the afternoon reporting the theft while Alejandro Hernandez, executive member of the Colombian Football Federation and head of the delegation, made a complaint to the administration of the hotel.
“We are all fine. They were just material thing,” said Falcao Garcia. He added, “We hope everything gets sorted out for the guys who were affected. Crime is everywhere.”
The robbery caused the team to miss their afternoon practice on Tuesday.
The Colombian team is in Spain to play two friendly games with Ecuador and Chile.
