Rainy season leaves 47 dead, destroys more than 1,000 homes

At the end of Colombia’s first rainy season, authorities announced
Wednesday that 47 people died and 1,108 homes were destroyed since the
rain came in March.

Heavy rains, floods and landslides had caused 356 emergencies in 224 municipalities in 27 of 32 departments, the Interior and Justice Minister said.

In total, the rainy season affected some 125 thousand people.
