Colombia’s Press Secretary, Cesar Mauricio Velasquez, will not disciplinarily be
investigated for meetings with paramilitary representatives, the country’s Inspector General confirmed.
Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez decided only to investigate the President’s judicial adviser Edmundo del Castillo for meeting with the defense attorney of extradited warlord Diego ‘Don Berna’ Murillo and with Severo Antonio ‘Job’ Lopez, who was a suspected member of the paramilitary group ‘Office of Envigado’ and assassinated in Medellin in 2008.
The Supreme Court objected the decision and ordered Ordoñez to include Velasquez in the investigation.
Ordoñez denied the request of the Supreme Court, stating that five people testified the Press Secretary did not participate in these meetings.
According to the Inspector General, there is no proof of guilt against Velasquez.
