The President of Uruguay met with FARC leaders during a recent trip to Havana, reported Uruguayan weekly Busqueda on Thursday.

According to the publication, President Jose Mujica met with members of the FARC, including Ivan Marquez and Jesus Santrich, while on an official visit to Cuba.

During his trip, Mujica met with President Raul Castro and his brother Fidel with who he discussed ongoing peace talks between.

Busqueda said that the Uruguayan head of state met with FARC negotiators “Ivan Marquez” and “Jesus Santrich.”

According to the magazine, Mujica will soon meet with his Colombian counterpart President Juan Manuel Santos.

Mujica, a former guerrilla, was invited to weigh in on the efforts to make peace by Santos earlier this year.

The assertions made by Busqueda were reportedly not confirmed by Mujica.

The Colombian government and the FARC on Sunday began the twelfth round of peace talks. While an agreement has been reached on land reform, the two sides have yet to reach an agreement on the FARC’s political participation, drug trafficking, citizen participation and the practicalities of ending the armed conflict.
