Bogota Police arrested six presumed criminals while seizing more than 180 kilos of illegal narcotics in the Colombian capital’s most infamous district, the Bronx.
Some 300 police officers participated in the raid against drug and arms dealing in Bogota’s Bronx district, considered the long-time heartland of criminal activity in the Colombian capital.
Four of the arrested individuals had arrest warrants, while the remaining two were detained on charges of carrying firearms.
During the raid, one Uzi sub-machinegun, a shotgun and five pistols of various calibers were seized, in addition to an abundance of liquor.
General Luis Eduardo Martinez, the commander of Bogota’s police force, previously told newspaper El Tiempo his objective was to “finish with the mafias of the Bronx,” while stressing the police did not intend to “pursue the inhabitants of the street.”
