Colombian police said Sunday they have confiscated 1.7 ton of marijuana in a rural area in southwest Colombia.
According to a police report, the drug had been stored between several bricks and covered with plastic, rubber and vaseline with coffee to hide the drug’s smell.
An anonymous call alerted the police about the marijuana allegedly belonging to the country’s largest rebel group FARC.
Police said the guerrillas had planed to move the drug to the Colombian Atlantic coast and then ship the load to Central America.
The drug’s street value was estimated at 1.9 million U.S. dollars.
In 2011, Colombian police said they confiscated a total of 290 tons of marijuana.
