Police have publicized 800 FARC emails and a number of photographs linking the editor of Sweden-based news website Anncol to the guerrilla organization.
Despite the fact that Joaquin Perez Becerra, editor of Anncol, a news source known for its pro-FARC stance, insists that he is only a reporter, intelligence sources have acquired photos of him in FARC camps, including one in which he is dressed in camouflage and holding a rifle, Noticias Uno reported Tuesday.
Police authorities have also found more than 800 emails, a number of them apparently sent to Perez Becerra, alias “Alberto Martinez,” by the fallen guerrillas Raul Reyes and Mono Jojoy, which indicate financial links to the organization and suggest that Perez Becerra was in fact part of the FARC.
In one email, FARC spokesperson Olga Lucia Marin wrote, “The International Commission continues to consist of Comrade Raul Reyes, head of the Commission, who also forms part of the Commission Alberto Martinez…”
The Anncol editor was arrested April 22 at an airport near Caracas, Venezuela and deported to Colombia two days later by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. On Monday, the news site finally spoke about the arrest, strongly criticizing Chavez’ action.
The Colombian administration has accused the Colombian-born Swedish citizen of being “the ringleader of the FARC’s international front in Europe.”
