Police donate $1 million to rainy season victims

Colombia’s National Police donated over $1 million to the victims of the recent catastrophic rainy season, El Espectador reported Tuesday.

Colombia Humanitaria was presented a with a check by police commander General Oscar Naranjo to help the over 2 million people affected by last year’s rainy season.

“The police have always done an absolutely spectacular job, and this is a sign that the Police ‘are’ Colombia,” said Maria Clemencia, an official for Colombia Humanitaria, upon receiving the donation.

In January President Juan Manuel Santos allotted $309 million to different government agencies and departments affected by the flooding.

The United Nations announced a $6 million plan to aid victims of Colombian floods in December.
